Jack lived in in rural East Dayton and Van Buren Township. He attended Stivers High School and started painting with Martha Showers in 1945. He married the late Barbara Subler in 1952. Jack worked at NCR for almost 46 years and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

Jack restarted his painting interests in 2017 and joined Olde Masters Galleria under the guidance of Cecilia Brendel in 2018.
