Dennis Kurlas

Dennis Kurlas, a native Cincinnatian, picked up a paint brush for the first time at the age of forty-five. His first teacher was J.C. Hall from Sharonville, Ohio who had created a daring new painting style he called Linellism. Dennis worked with J.C. for over ten years. After J.C.’s death in 2017, Dennis met Cecilia Brendel at the Cincinnati Art Club, and soon began taking lessons from her. She introduced him to the world of oil painting and its many possibilities. He loves to paint images of ancient Greek pottery and Grecian landscapes. His latest painting is of Mount Everest when he and his wife, Robin, and son, Nick, traveled to Tibet in May of 2024.
